If the crankshaft of a motorcycle makes abnormal noises, it will definitely affect the engine. This is because the crankshaft is a major component of the engine; it directly participates in the operation and power transmission of the entire engine. If it shows abnormalities, it indicates that there is excessive clearance in its internal needle bearings. If not repaired in time, the engine will be completely scrapped.

The crankshaft of a motorcycle mainly consists of connecting rods, cranks, and bearings, so it is an assembled component rather than a whole. Since it is an assembled component, during normal use of the engine, excessive clearance may occur.

Under normal circumstances, the part that is most likely to have excessive clearance in the crankshaft is the needle bearing of the connecting rod. If there is excessive clearance in the needle bearing, the connecting rod will sway left and right and shake up and down. This will exacerbate engine vibrations and increase wear on the cylinder body. In severe cases, there may be very serious knocking sounds from the cylinder; if it gets worse, the cylinder body may be damaged severely—this phenomenon is commonly known as 'cylinder knock out.'

However, in actual use, the likelihood of abnormal noises occurring in the crankshaft connecting rod mechanism is very low. If it does make noise, there will be a noticeable decrease in motorcycle power and a very harsh sound. Therefore, under normal circumstances, there is no need to worry about abnormal noises from the crankshaft; however, if you confirm that the noise source from the engine comes from the crankshaft, timely repairs are necessary; otherwise, it will only get worse and may even lead to engine scrapping.
